Magellanic Penguin
Spheniscus magellanicus

An adult Magellanic Penguin breeds on coasts of Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland Islands, often nesting in burrows or under shrubs. At sea it is a strong pursuit-diver, feeding mostly on small fish such as anchovies and sardines, plus squid and krill. Adults use braying calls to recognize mates and defend nesting space with pecks and flipper blows. Its double black breast bands are a notable field mark among banded penguins.
