Toco Toucan
Ramphastos toco

Adult toco toucans inhabit open woodland, savanna, palm groves, and forest edges across much of central and eastern South America. They feed mostly on fruit such as figs and palm fruits, but also opportunistically eat insects, eggs, nestlings, and small vertebrates. Adults move through the canopy with hops and short undulating flights, using the long lightweight bill to reach and handle food. The oversized bill also helps shed heat, making it one of the most distinctive thermoregulating tools among birds.
