Great Curassow
Crax rubra
Adult great curassows inhabit mature lowland and foothill rainforest, walking the forest floor by day and roosting in trees at night. They eat fallen fruit, seeds, leaves, insects, and small animals, helping move large seeds through the forest. The adult is one of the largest cracids, and males are especially known for a curled crest and deep booming calls used in display.
