Beluga
Acipenser huso

The adult beluga sturgeon is an anadromous giant of the Black Sea, Caspian Sea, and connecting river systems, migrating upriver to spawn. It is a powerful predator that eats fish and other aquatic animals, often feeding by suction with its large downward-facing mouth. Adults are long-lived and heavily built, protected by rows of bony scutes along the body. This species is famous as one of the largest freshwater-associated fishes in the world and is critically threatened by overfishing and blocked spawning routes.
