Eastern Bearded Dragon
Pogona barbata

An arboreal, diurnal lizard of eastern Australia, found in dry forests, woodlands, heath, and scrub where it basks on logs, rocks, and fence posts. It feeds on insects and other small animals as well as flowers, leaves, and fruit. When threatened, it flattens its body, opens its mouth, and darkens the spiny throat “beard” in a striking warning display. Adults often use head-bobbing and beard displays during territorial and breeding encounters.
