Blue Tiger
Tirumala hamata

The Blue Tiger is a milkweed butterfly found in warm forests, coastal scrub, gardens, and mangrove edges across parts of Asia and Australia. Adults feed mainly on flower nectar and fly with a steady, gliding style between blooms. Its caterpillars feed on milkweed relatives, allowing the adult to carry distasteful chemicals that warn predators away. The blue-white markings on dark wings act as warning coloration as well as camouflage in dappled light.
