Brown Flower Beetle
Phyllotocus macleayi
The adult is a small brown scarab beetle often found on flowers and low vegetation in eastern Australia. It feeds on pollen, nectar, and soft floral parts, using flight to move between blooming plants and to escape danger. Hardened wing covers protect the delicate flight wings when it is crawling among stems and petals. Adults are most noticeable when warm weather brings them out to visit flowers and seek mates.
