Least Weasel Kit
Mustela nivalis (kit)
Least weasel kits are born in lined nests hidden in burrows, stone walls, wood piles, or dense grass. Early kits are blind and helpless, feeding on milk while the mother brings prey nearby as they grow. As they develop, they practice biting, wrestling, and short rushes that prepare them for hunting small rodents. A notable feature of this stage is how quickly the young mature, often leaving the nest after only a few weeks.
