European Catfish Fingerling
Silurus glanis (fingerling)

Fingerlings occupy sheltered freshwater shallows, reed beds, and slow river edges, though they increasingly venture into deeper water. They feed on aquatic insects, crustaceans, worms, and small fish, ambushing prey with a rapid gulp. Sensitive barbels allow them to detect food in darkness and cloudy water.
