Black-and-White Hawk-Eagle
Spizaetus melanoleucus

The Black-and-White Hawk-Eagle inhabits mature forests and wooded savannas across much of sub-Saharan Africa. Usually solitary, it watches from a high perch before making fast flights through the canopy to seize birds, small mammals, and reptiles with its powerful talons. Its striking white underparts and dark upperparts make it conspicuous in flight, while its broad wings and long tail help it maneuver among trees.
