Decollate Snail
Rumina decollata

The decollate snail inhabits dry Mediterranean scrub, gardens, orchards, and other warm, sheltered ground, including many regions where it has been introduced. Mostly active in damp conditions or at night, it spends dry weather buried in soil or hidden beneath debris. It is an unusually predatory land snail, feeding on other snails, slugs, and their eggs as well as some plant material. Adults are recognized by the blunt, truncated tip of their long, narrow shell.
