Oak Treehopper
Platycotis vittata

Adult oak treehoppers live among oak foliage and twigs in western North American woodlands and scrub. They feed by inserting their piercing mouthparts into plant tissues and drinking sap. Their enlarged, angular pronotum helps break up their outline, making them remarkably difficult to spot against bark and leaves. Adults are winged and can fly to new feeding sites when disturbed.
