Orange-spotted grouper
Epinephelus coioides

Adult orange-spotted groupers inhabit coral and rocky reefs, estuaries, and other coastal waters of the Indo-West Pacific. They usually wait close to cover, using their mottled brown body and orange spots to blend into the seabed before lunging at prey. Fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods make up much of their diet. This species is a protogynous hermaphrodite: many individuals begin life female and some later change to male.
