Acorn Weevil Larva
Curculio glandium (larva)
This pale, legless grub develops inside an acorn in oak woodland, feeding on the nut’s rich tissue. After consuming its food supply, it chews its way out and drops to the ground. It then burrows into the soil, where it can remain underground for an extended period before pupating.
