Yellow Tang
Zebrasoma flavescens

Adult yellow tangs inhabit clear, sunlit coral reefs, especially around Hawaii and Johnston Atoll. They spend much of the day grazing algae from reef rock, helping prevent algae from overwhelming corals. A sharp, scalpel-like spine on either side of the tail can be erected in defense during close encounters.
