Lesser Adjutant Stork
Leptoptilos javanicus

A large tropical stork of marshes, flooded fields, mangroves, and wooded wetlands across South and Southeast Asia. It walks slowly through shallow water, seizing fish, frogs, reptiles, insects, and carrion with a powerful bill. Adults soar between feeding and nesting sites, using broad wings to cover long distances with little effort. Unlike the Greater Adjutant, it has a cleaner neck pouch profile and is strongly tied to forested wetland nesting habitat.
