Collector Urchin
Tripneustes gratilla

This sea urchin lives on tropical reef flats, lagoons, and seagrass habitats in the Indo-Pacific. It uses its mouthparts to scrape algae and seagrass-associated growth from the seabed, helping limit algal cover. Adults commonly carry debris over their spines, a behavior that provides both camouflage and protection from bright sunlight.
