Six-line wrasse
Pseudocheilinus hexataenia
The adult six-line wrasse lives among branching corals, rocky crevices, and reef rubble in the tropical Indo-Pacific. It is an alert, fast-moving hunter that picks small crustaceans, worms, and mollusks from cracks in the reef. Its six vivid horizontal stripes help break up its outline among coral shadows, and it commonly retreats into tight shelter when threatened or resting.
