Painted Stork
Mycteria leucocephala

An adult painted stork is a large wetland wader found around lakes, marshes, reservoirs, and flooded agricultural land in South and Southeast Asia. It feeds mainly by walking slowly through shallow water with its partly open bill submerged, snapping shut on fish, frogs, crustaceans, and insects. Adults fly strongly between feeding and nesting sites, often using thermals to travel efficiently. The bright pink tertial feathers and orange-yellow bill make this species one of the most recognizable Asian storks.
