Black-headed Ibis
Threskiornis melanocephalus

The adult Black-headed Ibis is a large white wading bird of marshes, rice fields, river margins, reservoirs, and coastal wetlands across South and Southeast Asia. It walks slowly through shallow water, sweeping and probing with its long down-curved bill for fish, frogs, crustaceans, mollusks, and insects. Adults fly strongly between feeding and nesting sites and gather at colonies during the breeding season. Its bare black head and neck make it distinctive among white ibises, and the species is closely tied to healthy wetland habitats.
