Sandbar shark
Carcharhinus plumbeus

Adult sandbar sharks inhabit warm-temperate and tropical coastal waters, often cruising over sandy shallows, reefs, and continental shelves. They feed chiefly on bony fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans, using their broad jaws to seize prey. Adults may migrate seasonally and are generally solitary outside of seasonal gatherings. A notably long-lived shark, this species gives birth to live young that use protected shallow bays as nursery habitat.
