Nile Crocodile
Crocodylus niloticus
Adult Nile crocodiles live in major rivers, lakes, swamps, and estuaries across much of sub-Saharan Africa. They ambush fish, birds, reptiles, and large mammals that approach the water, dragging substantial prey into deeper water. One of Africa's largest reptiles, an adult can use a powerful death roll to tear apart food too large to swallow whole.
