Common Flesh Fly
Sarcophaga carnaria

The adult common flesh fly is a gray, bristly fly often found around carrion, dung, refuse, flowers, and sunlit vegetation. It feeds mainly on liquids such as nectar, sap, and fluids from decaying matter, using sponging mouthparts rather than a biting proboscis. Females are notable for depositing live larvae instead of laying exposed eggs, giving the young a fast start on suitable food.
