Common Chameleon Hatchling
Chamaeleo chamaeleon (hatchling)
Newly hatched common chameleons live among low shrubs and grasses in warm Mediterranean habitats. They move cautiously through cover, feeding on tiny flies, ants, and other small insects. Even at this stage, their independently moving eyes help them watch for prey and danger at the same time.
