Horned Ghost Crab
Ocypode ceratophthalmus

Horned ghost crabs inhabit tropical sandy beaches and the upper shore, spending the day in deep, damp burrows. They emerge mostly at night to scavenge carrion, eat small invertebrates, and forage on washed-up organic matter. Their long legs make them exceptionally fast runners, allowing them to dart back to their burrows when threatened. The distinctive horn-like projections on their eyestalks give this species its common name.
