Forest Bug Nymph
Pentatoma rufipes (nymph)
This wingless nymph lives among deciduous trees, hedgerows, and woodland shrubs. It probes leaves, developing fruit, and small invertebrates with its piercing mouthparts. Like other young shield bugs, it has scent glands that can release a pungent defensive secretion when disturbed.
