Blackspotted puffer
Arothron nigropunctatus
Adults inhabit tropical coral reefs and lagoons, usually cruising alone among coral heads and rock crevices. They feed on algae, sponges, molluscs, and small crustaceans, using strong beaklike jaws to break or scrape food loose. Their mottled pattern provides camouflage, while their expandable body is a formidable defense against predators.
