Ant-Lion
Myrmeleon formicarius

The adult ant-lion is a delicate, lacewing-like insect found around dry sandy habitats, often resting quietly among grasses and shrubs. It flies mainly at dusk and night, feeding little or taking small insects and sugary liquids when available. Adults seek mates and lay eggs in suitable loose sand for their larvae. Despite its name, the winged adult lacks the larva's pit-building hunting behaviour.
