Four-spotted Chaser
Libellula quadrimaculata

The adult is a strong-flying dragonfly of ponds, lakes, bog pools, and reed-fringed wetlands. It often perches in open view, then darts out to catch mosquitoes, midges, and other flying insects in mid-air. Males patrol territories over water and chase away rivals with rapid aerial turns. The four dark spots along the wings give this species its common name, and it can appear in large movements during good years.
