Sika Deer Fawn
Cervus nippon (fawn)
Sika deer fawns rest in dense grass, woodland cover, and forest edges while their mothers forage nearby. They feed on milk at first, then begin nibbling grasses, leaves, and tender shoots. Their spotted coat provides camouflage, and young fawns often remain very still to avoid detection.
