Ant
Nylanderia bourbonica

The larva develops deep within a protected nest chamber, where workers feed it liquid food and small particles of protein. It has soft skin and a pale, grub-like body, using its small mandibles to accept and process food. Unlike an adult ant, it cannot walk far, forage, or defend the nest effectively. Its rapid growth depends entirely on care from worker ants.
