Moor Frog
Rana arvalis

Inhabits bogs, moorland, wet meadows, marshy woodland, and nearby grassland, returning to shallow pools to breed in early spring. Feeds on insects, spiders, worms, slugs, and other small invertebrates caught with quick lunges. It relies on stillness, mottled brown camouflage, and sudden leaps to escape danger. Breeding males are famous for turning bright blue for a few days, one of the most striking seasonal color changes among European frogs.
