Cloth-Of-Gold Cone
Conus textile
This adult cone snail lives on sandy reef flats, rubble slopes, and lagoons in the tropical Indo-Pacific. It hunts other marine snails, usually at night, lying concealed beneath sand or among coral debris before extending its proboscis. Its patterned shell resembles richly woven cloth, while a specialized radular tooth delivers powerful venom to subdue prey.
