White-tufted Marmoset
Callithrix jacchus
The white-tufted marmoset inhabits Atlantic forest, scrub, and forest edges in northeastern Brazil. It travels nimbly through the lower canopy and feeds on tree gum, insects, fruit, nectar, and small animal prey. Specialized lower incisors gouge bark to reach gum, an important food source during lean periods.
