Joro Spider
Trichonephila clavata
Adult Joro spiders inhabit woodland edges, gardens, and other shrubby habitats where they suspend large orb webs. They wait at the web hub or nearby retreat, rushing to wrap and bite insects caught in the sticky silk. Females are much larger than males and are known for their striking yellow-and-black coloration and golden-hued web strands.
