Lorquin's Admiral Caterpillar
Limenitis lorquini (larva)
Lorquin's Admiral caterpillars live on willows, poplars, and other host trees in streamside woods and forest edges of western North America. They feed by chewing tender leaves, usually resting on foliage or twigs between meals. Young larvae notably resemble bird droppings, while older caterpillars use muted coloration and small spines to remain inconspicuous.
