Jersey Tiger Pupa
Euplagia quadripunctaria (pupa)

The pupa develops in a loose silken cocoon hidden among dry leaves, low vegetation, or sheltered ground cover near the larval feeding site. It does not feed or travel during this stage, relying on concealment and its protective casing. The pupal period bridges the leaf-eating caterpillar and the nectar-feeding adult moth. Its hardened outer case protects the major body transformation taking place inside.
