Bush Cricket
Conocephalus melaenus

Adult bush crickets, or katydids, are usually found in dense grass, hedgerows, woodland edges, and garden vegetation. Many species graze on leaves, flowers, and seeds, while others are partly predatory on small insects. Adults are famous for producing high-pitched calls by rubbing their forewings together, often at dusk or night. Their leaflike bodies and long antennae help them stay hidden from birds and other hunters.
