Black Drongo
Dicrurus macrocercus
The adult Black Drongo is a glossy black, fork-tailed bird common in open country, farms, gardens, and woodland edges across much of South and Southeast Asia. It feeds mainly on flying insects, often sallying out from an exposed perch to snatch prey in mid-air or from the ground. Adults are famously bold and will dive at larger birds, mammals, and even people near a nest. They are also skilled vocal mimics, weaving copied calls into their own sharp, metallic notes.
