Variable Crayfish
Cambarus latimanus

Variable crayfish inhabit freshwater streams and sheltered pools with rocky or leafy bottoms. They feed opportunistically on algae, decaying plant material, insects, and other small aquatic animals. Adults defend themselves with strong pincers and can flip their tails to jet backward through the water.
