Atlantic Sand Fiddler Crab
Leptuca pugilator

Atlantic sand fiddler crabs inhabit salt marshes, tidal flats, and sandy estuary margins along the western Atlantic coast. They sift surface sediment for algae, detritus, and microorganisms, then retreat into burrows as tides and danger change. Males are notable for one greatly enlarged claw, which they wave in courtship displays and use in contests.
