Common Crane
Grus grus

Adult Common Cranes inhabit extensive wetlands, marshes, bogs, and nearby farmland across Europe and Asia. They feed on roots, grains, insects, frogs, and small vertebrates, probing the ground with their long bills. Pairs perform elaborate leaping dances and give loud carrying calls, especially during courtship and territorial displays. Many populations undertake long seasonal migrations between breeding and wintering grounds.
