Lesser Flamingo
Phoeniconaias minor

Adult lesser flamingos inhabit shallow alkaline lakes, lagoons, and mudflats across eastern and southern Africa and parts of South Asia. They feed mainly by filtering microscopic cyanobacteria and algae from the water with their specialized downturned bills. These highly mobile birds can travel long distances between wetlands when water conditions change. Their pink coloration comes from pigments in their diet.
