Pink-necked Green Pigeon Hatchling
Treron vernans (hatchling)

A newly hatched Pink-necked Green Pigeon is a helpless nestling hidden in a simple stick nest in shrubs, palms, or roadside trees. It depends entirely on its parents for warmth and crop milk, later receiving softened fruit pulp. At this stage it has sparse down, closed or partly opened eyes, and little ability to escape danger except by staying still and calling softly. Like other pigeons, its early growth is rapid, with wing feathers developing well before full independence.
