Arctic Tern
Sterna paradisaea

Arctic Terns breed along Arctic and sub-Arctic coasts, lakes, and river shores before migrating to Antarctic waters for the southern summer. Adults catch small fish, crustaceans, and other marine prey by hovering and plunge-diving into the water. They are fiercely protective around nesting colonies and may dive-bomb intruders. This species makes one of the longest migrations of any animal, experiencing more daylight each year than almost any other creature.
