Basking Shark
Cetorhinus maximus

Adult basking sharks inhabit temperate coastal and offshore waters, often swimming slowly near the surface where plankton is abundant. They feed by cruising with their enormous mouths open, filtering vast quantities of zooplankton through their gills rather than hunting large prey. Though they are among the world's largest fish, they are generally placid and harmless to people. Individuals may also make deep dives between surface-feeding periods.
