Demoiselle Crane
Grus virgo
Adult demoiselle cranes inhabit open grasslands, arid plains, farmland, and wetlands across parts of Eurasia and Africa. They walk swiftly while feeding on seeds, grains, insects, and small vertebrates, and make long seasonal flights between breeding and wintering areas. Despite being the smallest crane species, they are renowned for crossing the Himalayas during migration.
