Greater Thornbird
Phacellodomus ruber
The Greater Thornbird inhabits dry woodland, thorn scrub, and open savanna in northeastern Brazil. It searches branches and leaf litter for insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates, also taking some seeds. A notable builder, it weaves an enormous enclosed nest of thorny sticks that can be used for repeated breeding attempts.
