Asian Subterranean Termite Alate
Coptotermes gestroi (alate)

The alate is the winged reproductive stage of the Asian subterranean termite, produced by mature colonies in humid tropical and subtropical habitats. It feeds on colony-provided resources before leaving in a seasonal mating flight, often after warm rains. After pairing and finding a suitable damp wood or soil site, it sheds its wings and may begin a new colony.
