Giant Red Bull Ant
Myrmecia gulosa
Giant Red Bull Ants inhabit forests, heathland, and open woodland across southeastern Australia. Individual workers actively hunt insects and other small invertebrates using excellent vision, while also taking nectar and honeydew. They are fast, alert foragers that can leap or lunge at threats. Their painful sting delivers venom and makes this large ant a formidable defender.
